SCAM ALERT: Please Stay Vigilant
Last Updated: May 1, 2026 - 2:41pm
Scammers are getting more creative — here’s what to watch for:
- Wire Transfers: Midland Park will never ask you to wire money for any board application. If you receive a request like this, it’s a scam.
- Suspicious Links: Hackers are now using look-alike letters — such as the Cyrillic “α” — to make fake links appear real. At first glance, a URL may look legitimate, but one character can be different.
Example:
- www.XXXa.com — uses the real letter “a” → legitimate website
- www.XXXα.com — uses a Cyrillic “α” instead → fake website
❗️Do NOT automatically click these links. Always re-type the website address manually into a separate browser window to confirm that it’s legitimate.
Reminder:
- If you notice any unusual letters, fonts, or characters in the URL link within the email, treat it as suspicious.
- If you’re ever unsure whether a message or link is legitimate and it relates to Borough business, call the Borough Hall directly to confirm. We’re here to help keep our community safe!
